Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

Fuel Tank And Mounting Hardware:

The fuel filter is located under vehicle in front of the fuel tank, alongside the left body rail.

REMOVAL:

1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
2. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
3. Flush the fuel line quick-connectors at the filter with water and using compressed air, blow the debris out of the connectors.

WARNING: Wear safety goggles to protect eyes from flying debris.

Fuel "Quick-Connect" Fittings:

4. Depress tabs on the male end connector and pull connector apart.
5. Loosen the filter from the bracket.

INSTALLATION:

1. With a clean shop cloth, wipe the male tube ends of the filter.
2. Apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male tube ends.
3. Place the filter loosely in position.
4. Push connector together, pressing firmly until it snaps together.
5. Pull on connector halves to make sure they are locked together.
6. Secure the filter to the vehicle.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. START the engine and check for fuel leaks.
