P1632
DTC P1632 System Voltage High:
System Voltage Circuit:
Circuit Description
Ignition voltage is provided to the VCM by way of CKT 439. Normal voltage is 12.5 volts to 14.5 volts. Should the voltage become too high, VCM damage could occur.
DTC P1632 Will Set When
P1632 will set when ignition voltage is greater than 17.1 volts.
Action Taken (VCM will default to)
For 2 seconds after the fault is detected, the VCM will disengage its outputs. This may result in additional DTCs being set.
DTC P1632 Will Clear When
Conditions for fault are no longer present and Tech 1 clear DTCs function is used or 50 ignition switch keycycles have passed with no further faults or ignition switch is turned "OFF" and Fuse #9 (ECM B) fuse is removed for 10 seconds.
DTC Chart Test Description
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. Normal battery output is between 9.6-16.0 volts.
2. Checks to see if the high voltage reading is due to the generator or VCM. With engine running, check voltage at the battery.
If the voltage is above 12.1 volts, the VCM is OK.
3. Checks to see if generator is faulty under load condition. If the voltage is above 17.1 volts, refer to Charging System.
Diagnostic Aids
During the time the failure is present, all VCM outputs will be disengaged to protect the hardware. The setting of additional DTCs may result. Refer to "Intermittents". - Intermittent Malfunctions
