Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

A. Oil Pump Prime Procedure

1. This procedure should be completed prior to installation of the engine in the vehicle, and requires that:

2. The oil pump, pick-up tube, screen, oil pan, oil filter, engine oil and intake manifold be installed.

3. Field use suggests that:

a. A discarded distributor assembly (with the cap, gear and rotor/rotor plate removed), or

b. A distributor shaft (gear removed), or

c. A suitable tool from an outside supplier to rotate the oil pump.

An example of this type of tool would be a Goodson Engine Oil Primer Shaft No. EPS-4*.
