B. Engine Break-In

1. Start the engine, and let it idle for 10 to 20 minutes to stabilize the oil pressure.

2. During this time adjust timing and valve clearance.

3. With:

a. The parking brake on, and

b. The vehicle front wheels chucked to prevent vehicle movement taking care to insure the safety of other people, equipment and vehicles.

c. The engine running.

d. The transmission:

- in "Drive" for auto trans. vehicles (2WD in 4WD auto trans vehicles)

- in "Neutral" for manual trans. vehicles Lightly load the engine by pressing the accelerator pedal to increase engine RPM to 2000-2500 for approximately 5 seconds.

4. Repeat this procedure 5 times.

5. Drain and change the engine oil and filter. Use engine oil of the proper viscosity and grade.

The Goodson Engine Oil Primer Shaft No. EPS-4 can be obtained from local automotive tool supply sources or from Goodson direct.
