Access Cover: Service and Repair

Remove or Disconnect

1. Lower I/P extension nuts.
2. Lower I/P extension to I/P screws.
3. Electrical connectors.

Lower I/P Extension:





4. Instrument panel extension and set aside.

Heater Duct:




5. Heater duct.

Removing Bracket For Access:




6. Bolt from the bracket.
^ Loosen the nut and rotate the bracket out of the way.

Release The Engine Cover Latches:




7. Latches.
8. Screws.

NOTICE: Screws that fasten the engine cover to the cowl are not designed to come out of the engine cover. Use care when removing the cover. The screws extending from the engine cover could damage the instrument panel or trim.

9. Engine cover from the vehicle.

Install or Connect

NOTICE: When fasteners are removed, always reinstall them at the same location from which they were removed. If a fastener needs to be replaced, use the correct part number for the application. If the correct part number is not available, a fastener of equal size and strength (or stronger) may be used. Fasteners that are not reused and those requiring thread locking compound will be called out. The correct torque value must be used when installing fasteners that require it. If the above conditions are not followed, parts or system damage could result.

Engine Cover:





1. Engine cover.
2. Engine cover to cowl screws.
^ Do not tighten.

Engine Cover Upper Retainer & Lower Catch:




Engine Cover Lower Latches:




Engine Cover Guide Assemblies:




3. Latches.
A. Tighten screws fully.
B. Rotate bracket into position.
4. Bolt.

Tighten
^ Bracket to Heater Case Bolt to 8 N.m (71 lbs. in.).

5. Heater duct over studs.
6. Electrical connectors.
7. Instrument panel extension.
^ Align with heater duct and studs
8. Instrument panel extension to I/P screws.

Tighten
^ Screws to 1.9 N.m (17 lbs. in.).

9. I/P extension to engine cover nuts.

Tighten
^ Nuts to 2.7 N.m (24 lbs. in.).
