FILE IN SECTION: 8 - Chassis/Body ElectricalBULLETIN NO.: 56-82-03
DATE: June, 1995
SUBJECT:
Erratic Gauge and MIL Operation (Repair Wires at A/C Accumulator Pipe)
MODELS:
1993-95 Chevrolet and GMC Truck M/L Vans
with 4.3L Engine (VIN W - RPO L35) and Air Conditioning
CONDITION
Some owners may comment that the gauges fluctuate or that they may be inaccurate. Malfunction Indicator Lamps (MIL) may also give continuous or intermittent warning (DTC 14 and 15). Also, the owners may experience driveability symptoms.
CAUSE (Figure 1)
The engine side of some I/P controlled/displayed devices contained in connector C110 may rub against the A/C accumulator pipe causing a shorted or grounded condition of the circuits. Circuits affected may include the generator (circuits 25 and 39), fuel sender (circuit 30), oil pressure (circuit 31) or coolant temperature (circuit 35).
CORRECTION
Repair damaged wires at the A/C accumulator pipe. Refer to Section 8A-5-0 of the 1995 M/L Van Electrical Diagnosis Manual (GMT/95-ML-2). Also, reposition the harness so that it does not make contact with the accumulator pipe by removing any slack in the harness and secure to the existing harness clip.
