Fuel Pump: Service and Repair

Fuel Lift Pump:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Fuel pipes and hoses from the fuel pump.
2. Bolts.
3. Fuel pump.
4. Gasket.
5. Bolts.
6. Mounting plate.
7. Gasket.
8. The push rod (if necessary).

INSTALL OR CONNECT

Clean
- Clean both fuel pipe connections and surrounding areas at fuel lift pump before disconnecting to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system.

1. The push rod (if removed).

- Apply chassis grease to the push rod to hold it up against the camshaft.

2. New gasket.
3. Mounting plate.
4. Bolts.

Tighten
- Bolts to 8 Nm (72 lbs. in.).

5. New gasket.
6. Fuel pump.
7. Bolts.

Tighten
- Bolts to 33 Nm (24 lbs. in.).

8. Fuel pipes and hoses to the fuel pump.
9. Start the engine and check for leaks.
