Clutch Replace

1. Remove transmission as described under "Transmission, Replace," then the actuator cylinder and inspection cover. Refer to Transmisson Replace.

2. Remove spring, seat, clutch fork and fork inspection plug.

3. Slide clutch alignment tool or equivalent through input shaft hole in clutch, then mark flywheel, clutch cover and a pressure plate lug for installation reference.

4. Remove bolts and washers from clutch cover. Loosen each bolt one turn at a time to prevent cover distortion.

5. Remove clutch cover assembly and clutch disc, then the pilot bearing if worn or damaged. Use pilot bearing remover tool No. J-23907 or equivalent.

6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Models less dual mass flywheel, torque clutch cover to flywheel bolts to 35 ft. lbs.

b. Models with dual mass flywheel, torque clutch cover to flywheel bolts to 25 ft. lbs.

c. Torque clutch housing to engine studs to 29 ft. lbs.
