Model and Year:
1996 S/T TRUCKS WITH 4.3L ROMULUS BUILT ENGINE

To: All Chevrolet/Geo Dealers

This bulletin is reprint of administrative message 01-027 date 01/24/96, plus the claims matrix has been revised only for labor operation T2480. The specific claims matrix changes are shown in bold type for your convenience.

General Motors has decided that certain S/T model vehicles built with 4.3L (VIN code "X" or VIN code "W") engines assembled by the Romulus engine plant may exhibit higher than normal oil consumption and/or may experience spark knock on acceleration. These conditions may be due to improperly installed valve stem seals.

To correct this condition, dealers are to replace the valve stem seals with a complete set of new intake and exhaust seals.
