Instrument Panel and Collision Damage

NOTICE: In the event of a collision, Inspect the Instrument panel carrier for visual signs of deformation or surface cracks. If either are present, the instrument panel carrier needs to be replaced. Under no circumstances is the Instrument panel carrier to be repaired through welding or straightening. If the collision did not command deployment of the SIR system, the instrument panel carrier will not need to be replaced. If the steering column collapsed, replace the instrument panel carrier regardless of it's physical appearance. While inspecting the instrument panel career, also visually inspect the driver's and passenger's Instrument panel knee bolster brackets. If the brackets are deformed or kinked, they need to be replaced. Knee bolster brackets are not to be repaired through welding or straightening.
