Engine Installation
1. Install the engine into the vehicle.
2. Install the engine mounts to frame bolts.
3. Install the engine mount through bolts and nuts.
4. Install the transmission bolts to the engine.
^ Remove the universal lift bracket from the engine.
^ Raise the vehicle.
5. Install the torque converter to the flywheel bolts.
6. Install the starter opening shield.
7. Install the starter. Refer to Starting and Charging.
8. Install the engine oil cooler lines to retainers.
9. Install the transmission oil cooled lines to retainers.
10. Install the exhaust pipes to the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust System.
11. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement.
12. Install the fuel lines from the rear bracket to the intake manifold.
13. Install the generator and bracket.
14. Install the air conditioning compressor and bracket (if used). Refer to Heating and Air Conditioning.
15. Install the accelerator and cruise control cables (if equipped). Refer to Accelerator Controls in Engine Controls.
16. Connect the heater hoses to the engine. Refer to Heater Hose Replacement in Heater, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.
17. Connect the transmission shift cable connector.
18. Install the transmission oil level indicator tube.
19. Connect the engine wiring harness connectors.
20. Install the engine cooling fan. Refer to Cooling System.
21. Install the radiator support assembly. Refer to Cooling System.
22. The radiator support assembly will include
^ Two ground straps
^ Headlight assemblies
^ Radiator
^ A/C condenser (if equipped)
23. Install the grill assembly. Refer to Body and Frame.
24. Install the coolant reservoir. Refer to Cooling System.
25. Install the front bumper. Refer to Body and Frame.
26. Install the air cleaner assembly and duct.
27. Install the engine cover. Refer to Body and Frame.
28. Install the negative battery cable.
^ Fill the engine with the proper quantity and grade of engine oil.
^ Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System
