ABS Light: Description and Operation
The "ANTI-LOCK" indicator lamp in the instrument cluster informs the driver of antilock system operation and malfunctions. Malfunctions can occur in two different ways, one way is the brake combination valve completes the circuit to the "Brake Warning Lamp" and the "ABS Warning Lamp" thus turning on these lamps. Another way is a malfunction indicated by the
EBCM. This malfunction completes the "
ABS Lamp" circuit to ground. The lamp may stay on or turn off again depending on the nature of the malfunction. The "BRAKE" lamp serves as a backup if a malfunction occurs in this circuit.
