Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Stop Lights

Voltage applies at all times from the STOP/HAZ fuse to the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch. Voltage applies from the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch through the turn signal switch to CKT 17 (WHT) when the brake pedal is depressed. When the voltage applies, the left side and the right side stop lamps turn ON. Voltage also applies in the following sequence when the brake pedal is depressed:
1. The Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch
2. The center high mounted stop lamp (CHMSL)
3. CKT17(WHT)

The CHMSL turns ON when the sequence is complete. The turn signal switch operation does not affect the CHMSL.
