Subject: Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Inoperative (Reprogram Body Control Module with Revised Calibration)
Models: 1998 Chevrolet S Models (Blazer) Built Between the Following VIN Breakpoints:

Condition
Some owners may comment on inoperative daytime running lamps (DRL) on some Blazer models built between the above VIN breakpoints.
Cause
The condition may be caused by an improper calibration that may have been programmed into the body control module (BCM).
Correction
Revised calibrations are available to correct this condition. Reprogram the BCM using the new calibration information and procedure listed below. These new calibrations should enable the DRL.

Important: These calibrations are not available from GMSPO. These calibrations are programmed into the BCM using a Techime Tool. These new calibration are available on the 1998 CD Disc #21 and later.
1. Using a Tech 2 Scan Tool, select Service Programming.
2. Enter the appropriate vehicle information.
Confirm that the following conditions exist in order to prepare for BCM programming:
^ The battery should be fully charged.
^ The ignition switch should be in the RUN position.
^ The Data Link Connector (DLC) should be accessible.
Refer to the latest Techline Terminal and the equipment user's instructions. Clear the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) after the programming is complete.
