Instrument Panel (IP) - Carrier Replacement - Installation

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: Install all components of the IP carrier as one unit.




1. Position the IP carrier (1) in the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.




2. Install the IP carrier top bolts (1).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).




3. Install the IP carrier side bolts, the left side is shown, the right is similar.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).




4. Install the IP center support bracket bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

5. Install the cross car duct.




6. Install the nuts (4) and screw (3) to fasten the IP assembly (2) to the IP carrier support (1). Tighten the screws until the screws are fully driven, seated and not stripped

Tighten
Tighten the nuts (4) to 9 N.m (80 lb in).




7. Connect the following electrical components:
^ The left side courtesy lamp.
^ The MBEC to the bracket (Mid Bussed Electrical Center)
^ The LBEC to the bracket (Left Bussed Electrical Center)
^ The active transfer case (ATC) module (1) if equipped with 4 wheel drive.




8. Connect the parking brake release handle to the IP assembly.
9. Connect the following electrical components as necessary to the IP assembly:
^ The IP cluster lead. Clip the component to the IP assembly
^ The RBEC. (Right Bussed Electrical Center).
^ The right side courtesy lamp.
^ The remote control door lock receiver, if equipped with remote keyless entry.




10. Install the IP upper brackets.

Tighten the upper bracket screws until the screws are fully driven, seated and not stripped.
11. Connect the wiring harness to the right upper bracket and tighten the screws until the screws are fully driven, seated and not stripped.
12. Connect the wiring harness to the right upper bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).




13. Snap-in the right side accessory switch housing. Connect the electrical connection, if equipped.
14. Install the HVAC control assembly.
15. Install the radio.
16. Install the IP cluster.




17. Connect the electrical connections and snap-in the left side accessory switch bracket (1).




18. Connect the Body Control Module (BCM) (1) to the bracket.
19. Install the steering column.




20. Install the knee bolster deflector.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb ft).

21. Install the passenger side air bag module.
22. Install the lower IP trim panel.
23. Install the driver side knee bolster.




24. Install the Data Link Connector (DLC) (1) to the IP assembly (2).

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).




25 Install the following components, depending on how the vehicle is equipped:
^ The IP cupholder cover (shown). Tighten the IP cupholder cover screws until the screws are fully driven, seated, and not stripped.
^ The IP cupholder.
^ The floor console extension.




26. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the ambient light sensor on the underside of the top cover.




27. Install the top cover.

Tighten the top cover screws until the screws are fully driven, seated and not stripped.
28. Install the windshield pillar garnish moldings.




29. Install the assist handle.
30. Install the right side air outlets.




31. Install the end panels. Left is shown, right is similar.
32. Install the IP cluster trim plate bezel.
33. Tilt the steering wheel to the normal driving position.
34. Move the shift lever to the park position (if the transmission is automatic).
35. Disengage the parking brake.
36. Enable the SIR system.
37. Connect the negative battery cable(s).
