Fuel Balance Pump
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION:
^ To reduce the risk of fire and personal injury that may result from a fuel leak, always replace O-ring seals exposed during component services.
^ Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable(s).
2. Loosen the filler cap(s) in order to relieve the tank pressure.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
4. Clean both of the fuel pipe connections and the surrounding areas at the fuel pump before disconnecting in order to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system.
5. Remove both of the fuel pipes from the fuel pump.
6. Slide the fuel lift pump out of the bracket.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the new fuel pipe O-rings.
2. Position the new pump in the pump bracket.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the fuel feed pipe and the suction pipe to the fuel pump.
Tighten
Use the backup wrench in order to prevent the pump from turning. Tighten fittings to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
4. Connect the harness connector.
5. Connect the negative battery cables.
6. Tighten the filler cap(s).
7. Bleed the air from the system. Refer to Fuel Feed and Fuel Return Pipe Purge Procedure.
8. Start the engine.
9. Check for any leaks.
