Disabling the SIR System



1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.

2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
4. Remove the SIR Fuse from the Instrument Panel (IP) fuse block.

Important: With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition switch in the RUN position, The AIR BAG warning lamp illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.





5. Remove the LH insulator panel.
6. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) (3) from the driver frontal air bag yellow 2-way connector (2) located at the base of the steering column.
7. Disconnect the driver frontal air bag yellow 2-way connector (2).





8. Remove the RH insulator panel.
9. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) (2) from the passenger frontal air bag yellow 2-way connector (1) located behind the RH insulator panel.
10. Disconnect the passenger frontal air bag yellow 2-way connector (1).





11. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the driver side air bag yellow 2-way connector (4) located under the driver seat.
12. Disconnect the driver side air bag yellow 2-way connector (4).
13. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the driver pretensioner yellow 2-way connector (3) located under the driver seat.
14. Disconnect the driver pretensioner yellow 2-way connector (3).
15. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the passenger side air bag yellow 2-way connector (4) located under the front passenger seat.
16. Disconnect the passenger side air bag yellow 2-way connector (4).
17. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the passenger pretensioner yellow 2-way connector (3) located under the front passenger seat.
18. Disconnect the passenger pretensioner yellow 2-way connector (3).
