Blower Motor and Fan Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the right door sill plate.
2. Remove the right hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement Service and Repair in Interior Trim.
3. Remove both speaker covers.
4. Remove the instrument panel upper mounting screws.
5. Remove the mounting bracket to instrument panel screw.
6. Remove the nut from the right door pillar stud.
7. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the blower motor.
8. Remove the blower motor cooling tube.
9. Remove the blower motor flange screws.
10. Using a pry bar, disengage the instrument panel carrier bracket from the right door pillar stud and pry the instrument panel carrier rearward. Remove the blower motor. Carefully pull the blower motor forward in order to avoid damaging the blower fan.
11. Inspect the blower motor terminals for distortion. Clean corrosion from the terminals or replace the blower motor as necessary.
12. Inspect the flange of the blower motor for damage or distortion that could cause an air leak. Repair the flange as necessary.
13. Inspect the blower motor fan for damage and distortion. Repair or replace the blower motor fan as necessary.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the blower motor. Guide the blower motor and the blower motor fan so that the blower motor fan does not get caught on protruding parts. Engage the instrument panel carrier bracket to the right door pillar stud.
2. Install the blower motor flange screws.
3. Install the blower motor cooling tube.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
4. Install the bolt to the right lower instrument panel support.
Tighten the bolt to 2 Nm (18 lb in).
5. Install the courtesy lamp, if equipped.
6. Connect the electrical connectors to the blower motor.
7. Install the nut from to the right door pillar stud.
Tighten the nut to 3 Nm ( 27 lb in).
8. Install the mounting bracket to instrument panel screw.
Tighten the screw to 2 Nm (18 lb in).
9. Install the instrument panel upper mounting screws.
Tighten the screws to 2 Nm (18 lb in).
10. Install both speaker covers.
11. Install the right hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement Service and Repair in Interior Trim.
12. Install the front door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement Service and Repair in Interior Trim.
