Evaporator Core: Description and Operation
Evaporator Description
The following actions occur when the evaporator is operating:
1. The evaporator cools and dehumidifies the air before it enters the vehicle.
2. High pressure liquid refrigerant flows through the orifice tube into the low-pressure area of the evaporator.
3. The heat in the air that is passing through the evaporator core is lost to the cooler surface of the core. This action cools the air.
4. Moisture (humidity) in the air condenses on the outside surface of the evaporator core.
5. The moisture drains off as water.
