Crankshaft Position Sensor Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
3. Remove the CKP sensor retaining bolt (2).
4. Remove the CKP sensor (3) from the engine front cover (1).
Installation Procedure
Important: Lightly coat the CKP sensor O-ring prior to assembling the CKP sensor into the engine front cover. Use a small amount of GM lubricant P/N 9985770 may be used on the CKP sensor O-ring only, to aid in installation.
Important: Fully seat CKP sensor in the engine front cover prior to torquing the mounting bolt.
1. Install CKP sensor (3) into the engine front cover (1).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in Cautions and Notices.
2. Install the CKP sensor retaining bolt (2).
Tighten the CKP sensor to 12 Nm (9 lb ft).
3. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
