Equalizing Beam Center Bushing Replacement (On Vehicle RT-400 Type)
Removal Procedure
Tools Required
* J 42114 Bushing Remover and Installer
* J 42115 Center Bushing Remover and Installer
1. Set the parking brake.
2. Block the front wheels.
3. Remove the following components:
* The saddle cap stud nuts
* The washers
* The saddle caps
4. Raise the frame in order to allow access to the center bushing. Support the frame forward and rearward of the rear axle.
5. Remove the equalizing beam from the vehicle. Refer to Equalizing Beam Replacement Equalizing Beam Replacement.
6. Position the equalizing beam on both axles.
7. Install the following components. Do not torque the nuts at this time.
* The mounting washers
* The bolts
* The nuts
8. Center the bushing (2) using the J 42114 and the J 42115 .
Installation Procedure
Tools Required
* J 42114 Bushing Remover and Installer
* J 42115 Center Bushing Remover and Installer
1. Install the new center bushing (2) using the tools from sets J 42114 and J 42115 .
2. Install the following components from the axles:
* The mounting nuts
* The washers
* The nuts
* The equalizing beam
3. Install the crosstube into the equalizing beam.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
4. Position the equalizing beam on both axles. Install the following components to the equalizing beam end bushing.
Tighten the equalizer beam bolt nut to 700 Nm (516 lb ft).
* The mounting washers
* The bolts
* The nuts
5. Lower the frame in order to install the saddle cap assembly to the center bushing.
6. Install the following components:
* The saddle caps
* The saddle cap stud washers
* The nuts
Tighten the saddle cap nut to 340 Nm (250 lb ft) after the axle is in its normal operating position.
7. Remove the blocks from the wheels.
