TECHNICAL
Subject:
Squeak or Rattle in Instrument Panel Bezel
(Add Insulating Tape)
Models:
2000-2001 Chevrolet Tracker
Condition
Some owners may comment on a squeak or rattle type noise that is coming from the instrument panel, usually in the area of the gauge cluster, radio or left outboard air outlet
Correction
1. Remove the instrument panel bezel and apply pieces of flocking tape, P/N 12378189, or equivalent, to the edges of the bezel (2) at the locations (1) shown above. Please note that the tape should be applied so that it wraps around the edge of the plastic as shown in the section view above.
2. Trim the tape so that it will not be visible along the front edge after the bezel is installed. The flocking tape pant number listed consists of two sheets, each approximately 215 mm by 305 mm (8-1/2 in by 12 in). Each sheet contains enough material to do at least ten vehicles (20 vehicles for each pan number ordered).
