Cylinder Head Replacement - Left

Cylinder Head Replacement- Left

- Tools Required
- J 36660-A Electronic Torque Angle Meter

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to: Service and Repair
2. Remove the A/C compressor from the power steering pump bracket, if equipped, and set it aside. Refer to: Service and Repair
3. Remove the lower intake manifold. Refer to: Overhaul
4. Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to: Overhaul
5. Remove the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to: Service and Repair
6. Remove the valve rocker arms and valve push rods. Refer to: Service and Repair
7. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to: Service and Repair
8. Remove the power steering pump mounting bracket.
9. Disconnect the wiring bracket (3) from the rear of the right cylinder head.
10. For the right side cylinder head, remove the following components:
10.1. Remove the generator. Refer to: Service and Repair
10.2. Remove the generator and drive belt tensioner mounting bracket.
10.3. Remove the Oil indicator tube.





11. Remove the cylinder head and the gasket.
12. Clean all sealing surfaces.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the cylinder head. Refer to: Overhaul
2. Install the valve rocker arms and the valve push rods. Refer to: Service and Repair
3. For the left cylinder head, install the power steering pump mounting bracket.
4. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to: Service and Repair
5. For the right cylinder head, install the generator and drive belt tensioner mounting bracket. Refer to: Refer to: Service and Repair
6. Install the exhaust manifold. Refer to: Overhaul
7. Install Oil Indicator Tube.
8. Install the lower intake manifold. Refer to: Overhaul
9. Install the valve rocker arm covers. Refer to: Service and Repair
10. Install the A/C compressor, if equipped. Refer to: Service and Repair
11. Install the drive belt. Refer to: Service and Repair
