Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor.
2. Remove the bolt (1) and the sensor wire harness clip from the engine.
3. Remove the bolt (3) securing the CKP sensor to the front engine cover.
4. Remove the CKP sensor (3) with wire harness from the engine.
5. Inspect the CKP sensor signal rotor for damaged or missing teeth through the CKP sensor opening.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Lubricate the CKP sensor O-ring with clean engine oil.
2. Install the CKP sensor (3) to the front engine cover.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Secure the CKP sensor to the front engine cover with the bolt (2).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
4. Secure the sensor wire harness to the engine block with the clip and the bolt (1).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
5. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
