Bulletin No.: 05-03-10-007

Date: May 20, 2005

TECHNICAL

Subject:
Wheel Center Caps are Loose and Rotate (Install Polyurethane Tape Patches to Cap)

Models:
2003-2005 Chevrolet SSR

Condition

Some customers may comment that the wheel center caps are loose and rotate, and then they do not align with the spokes on the wheel.

Cause

Insufficient center cap retention against the wheel may cause this condition.

Correction

Important:
The polyurethane tape patches can be obtained from the Warranty Parts Center.

Install polyurethane tape patches to each center cap using the procedure below.

1. Remove the wheel center caps.

2. Install the polyurethane tape patches (1) to two opposing legs of the center cap 180 degrees apart. Before installing the tape, wipe with isopropyl alcohol using a clean, lint-free, non-abrasive cloth.

3. Repeat the above step for the remaining center caps. There should be two patches placed on each center cap.

Parts Information

To obtain the polyurethane tape patches, fax the form shown to the GM Warranty Parts Center (WPC). The WPC will send out a service kit that consists of 8 pieces of polyurethane tape (2 pieces per wheel).
