B3250
DTC B3250
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The power sliding door control module (PSDM) uses an optical sensor to monitor the power sliding door (PSD) position at all times. The optical sensor requires a 5-volt reference circuit and a reference return circuit from the PSDM. There are also 2 signal circuits from the PSDM to the optical sensor. The optical sensor sends pulses through both signal circuits to the PSDM whenever the PSD is in motion. The optical sensor pulses allow the PSDM to calculate the position of the PSD at all times. The optical sensor signal circuits switch from 0.01-4.5 volts as the PSD is moving.
DTC DESCRIPTOR
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
DTC B3250 Power Sliding Door Position Signal Circuit
CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
A DTC B3250 may be set whenever the PSD is in motion.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The PSDM does not detect the optical sensor pulses while the PSD is opening or closing.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
- The PSDM will attempt to operate the PSD and stop if the condition is current.
- The PSDM sets DTC B3250.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
When the failure is no longer present and the DTC is cleared with the scan tool.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
- Inspect the optical sensor connector and terminals for damage.
- Inspect the optical sensor pigtail harness for damage.
- Inspect the optical sensor for proper installation and a secure mount to the PSD motor.
TEST DESCRIPTION
Step 1 - Step 10:
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. This step tests the PSDM for the optical sensor 5-volt reference and ground.
3. This step tests the optical sensor 1 signal circuit. While the varying voltage measured on this circuit can range as low as 0.01 volts or as high as 4.5 volts, the average voltage measured is usually within 1.0-3.0 volts when the PSD is moving at the approximate power operating speed.
4. This step tests the optical sensor 2 signal circuit. While the varying voltage measured on this circuit can range as low as 0.01 volts or as high as 4.5 volts, the average voltage measured is usually within 1.0-3.0 volts when the PSD is moving at the approximate power operating speed.
6. The optical sensor needing replacement is part of the PSD motor/clutch assembly and is not serviced separately.
