Revised Wiper Motor Replacement Procedure

This bulletin is being issued to revise the Wiper Motor Replacement procedure in the Wipers/Washer Systems sub-section of the Service Manual. Please replace the current information in the Service Manual with the following information.

Wiper Motor Replacement
Tools Required
J 39529 Wiper Linkage Installer
Removal Procedure
1. Position the wipers in the parked position.
2. Disconnect the wiper motor electrical connector.
3. Remove the wiper motor crank arm nut (4) and crank arm (5).
4. Remove the wiper motor screws (3).
5. Remove the wiper motor from the module assembly.
Installation Procedure
Important:
A new wiper motor will be shipped in the parked position.
1. Position the crank arm (5) to the wiper motor pivot shaft. Ensure the arm resides between the 2 casting dimples (2) as shown.
2. Install the crank arm pivot nut (4).
Tighten
Tighten the pivot nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
3. Using the J 39529 secure the transmission link (1) to the wiper crank arm (5).
4. Position the module assembly to the lower plenum. Refer to Wiper Motor Module Replacement.
5. Connect the electrical connector (2) to the wiper motor (1).
6. Reposition the wiper arms.
7. Inspect the front wiper system operation.
