Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper

TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) UPPER

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disable the frontal supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the windshield garnish moldings.




3. Using a flat-bladed tool, lift up the upper trim pad covers.
4. Remove the bolts holding the upper trim pad to the I/P retainer.




5. Lift the I/P upper trim panel from the vehicle.




6. Disconnect the ambient light sensor from the upper trim pad.
7. Remove the I/P upper trim panel from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Connect the ambient light sensor to the upper trim pad.




2. Position the I/P upper trim panel in the vehicle. Snap the trim panel into place.




3. Install the bolts to the I/P upper trim panel.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
4. Insert the bolt caps.
5. Install the windshield garnish moldings.




6. Connect the ambient light sensor to the upper trim pad.
7. Install the windshield garnish moldings.
8. Enable the frontal SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in Restraint Systems.
