Bulletin No.: 06-08-64-011

Date: March 09, 2006

TECHNICAL

Subject:
Door Glass Freezing to Outer Belt Sealing Strip (Modify Outer Belt Molding)

Models:
2003-2006 Chevrolet SSR

Condition

Some customers may comment that the door glass does not drop when the door is opened in cold ambient temperatures.

Cause

The door glass may be frozen to the outer belt sealing strip.

Correction

Remove the outer belt sealing strip and modify it to allow water to drain away from the seal and the glass. Follow the procedure listed below.

1. Remove the door trim. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door in SI.

2. Place the door glass in the closed position.

3. Remove the bolt from the front of the door that retains the sealing strip to the door.

4. Tilt the glass inward. This will give more room to remove and install the sealing strip (belt molding).

5. Remove the sealing strip.

6. Measure from the edge of the strip as seen in the illustration above and remove the material from the three areas.

7. Tilt the glass inward and install the sealing strip (belt molding).

8. Install the sealing strip bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

Important:
After performing this procedure, the technician should replace the door lock actuator. Refer to Service Bulletin # 05-08-64-039 - Door Will Not Open With Remote (Replace Lock Actuator Bracket).

9. Lower the door glass.

10. Install the door trim. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door in SI.
