Energy Storage Box (ESB) Service Disconnect Switch Replacement
ENERGY STORAGE BOX (ESB) SERVICE DISCONNECT SWITCH REPLACEMENT
CAUTION:
- To reduce the risk of severe shock and burns, disable the 42-volt (42V) system anytime you perform service work on or around the energy storage box (ESB). The 42V system will still be active after you have disabled the ESB.
- To reduce the risk of severe shock and burns, always disconnect the 42-volt (42V) energy storage box (ESB) before doing any work to the ESB system. To disconnect the ESB, turn the engine off and turn OFF the service disconnect switch, which is located on the passenger side of the ESB.
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the energy storage box (ESB) intermediate cover.
2. Remove the service disconnect power cable nut and cable (2) from the service disconnect switch.
3. Remove the service disconnect power cable nut and cable from the service disconnect switch.
4. Remove the service disconnect switch screws.
5. Remove the service disconnect switch nuts.
6. Remove the service disconnect switch.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the service disconnect switch.
2. Remove the service disconnect power cable nut and cable (2) from the service disconnect switch.Install the service disconnect switch nuts.
Tighten the nuts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the service disconnect switch screws.
Tighten the screws to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
4. Install the service disconnect power cable and nut to the service disconnect switch.
Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
5. Install the service disconnect power cable (2) and nut (2) to the service disconnect switch.
Tighten the screws to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
6. Install the ESB intermediate cover.
