A/C - Insufficient Cooling In High Temperatures

HVAC is Not Cooling or A/C is Not Cold Enough in High Ambient Temperatures and at High Vehicle Speeds (Reprogram the PCM)

Models:
2007-2008 Chevrolet Tahoe

with Police Package (RPOs PPV or 5W4) and Air Conditioning (RPO CJ3) Vehicles Built 2007 Start of Production Through October 22, 2007

Condition

Some customers may comment that the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system is not cooling, or that the Air Conditioning (A/C) system is not cold enough in high ambient temperatures and at high vehicle speeds.

Cause

This condition may be caused by high A/C compressor cycle time during high ambient temperatures and at high vehicle speeds.

Correction





A revised calibration has been develop to address this concern. Technicians are to reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) using SPS with the latest software available on TIS2WEB. Refer to the Engine Control Module Programming and Setup procedures in SI. As always, make sure your Tech 2(R) is updated with the latest software version.
