TECHNICAL

Subject:
Assist Step Rocker Cover Gap to Rear Door (Install Assist Step Rocker Cover Brackets)

Models:
2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

with Assist Step Provision (RPO BVV) or Off-Road Appearance Package (RPOs Z71, BPH)

Condition

Some customers may comment on a gap between the assist step rear rocker cover to the rear door as seen in the illustration above.

Correction

If the gap is greater than 10 mm (0.39 in), the repair should be made to the left and right side by installing the assist step rear rocker cover bracket. Measure from the top of the cover to the bottom of the door. Refer to the procedure below.

Raise the vehicle.

Remove the wheel.

Remove the lower wheel liner bolt and pull the liner up in order to gain access to the J-nut.

Discard the J-nut as seen in the illustration above.

Install the bracket as seen in the illustration above. The bracket will slide over the sheet metal and the plastic step rocker cover. This will bring the front of the cover up, closing the gap.

Install the bolt.

Tighten

Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

Install the wheel.
