Campaign - Positive Battery Cable Misrouted-Reroute: Overview

Subject:
Customer Satisfaction - Positive Auxiliary Battery Cable Misrouted-Reroute # 07120 - (05/15/2007)

Models:
2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

Equipped with Police Package (RPO PPV) or Special Service Package (RPO 5W4) and Dual Batteries (6A6)

THIS PROGRAM IS IN EFFECT UNTIL MAY 31, 2008.

Condition

On certain 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe vehicles equipped with a Police Package (RPO PPV) or Special Service Package (RPO 5W4) and dual batteries (RPO 6A6), the positive battery cable on the auxiliary battery may be misrouted. If the cable is misrouted, it may come in contact with the power steering pulley and the cable insulation may begin to wear. If the insulation wears away and contacts the pulley surface, the headlamps may flicker, the gauges on the instrument panel may fluctuate, the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) may illuminate, and the driver may not be able to start the vehicle.

Correction

Dealers are to inspect the cable for insulation wear and reroute or replace the cable, as needed.

Vehicles Involved

Involved are certain 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe vehicles equipped with a Police Package (RPO PPV) or Special Service Package (RPO 5W4), dual batteries (RPO 6A6), and built within the VIN breakpoints shown.

For dealers with involved vehicles, a listing with involved vehicles containing the complete vehicle identification number, customer name, and address information has been prepared and will be provided through the applicable system listed below. Dealers will not have a report available if they have no involved vehicles currently assigned.

-- US dealers - GM DealerWorld Recall Information

-- Canadian dealers - GMinfoNet Recall Reports

The listing may contain customer names and addresses obtained from Motor Vehicle Registration Records. The use of such motor vehicle registration data for any purpose other than follow-up necessary to complete this program is a violation of law in several states/provinces/countries. Accordingly, you are urged to limit the use of this report to the follow-up necessary to complete this program.

Parts Information

It is anticipated that there will be no battery cable replacements required. In the rare instance that one is required, the cable can be obtained from General Motors Service and Parts Operations (GMSPO). DO NOT ORDER REPLACEMENT BATTERY CABLES FOR SHELF STOCK.
