DTC B1420
- Device Voltage

Diagnostic Fault Information

Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

Circuit/System Description

The power sliding door control module (PSDM) monitors battery voltage through the battery positive voltage circuit.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Battery voltage must be less than 9 volts or greater than 15.9 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

* The PSDM detects a power sliding door (PSD) system voltage below 9 volts or above 15.9 volts.
* The conditions above must be present for more than 5 seconds

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* The power sliding doors will not operate.
* The PSDM sets a DTC B1420.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* This DTC will change from current to history when the fault is no longer present.
* The technician issues a scan tool CLEAR DTCs command.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, command the appropriate power sliding door to OPEN and CLOSE by pressing the power sliding door switch located on the overhead console switchbank while observing the voltage parameter with a scan tool. The Battery Voltage Signal parameter should be between 9.6-13.6 volts.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector C1 at the appropriate PSDM.
2. Ignition ON, test for 9.6-13.6 volts on B+ circuit terminal 6 and ground.

If less than the specified range, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the PSD fuse is open, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate PSDM.
If the circuit tests normal and the system voltage is less than or greater than the specified range, refer to Charging System Test. Charging System Test

3. Ignition ON, test for 9.6-13.6 volts on B+ circuit terminal 14 and ground.
