Instrument Panel Retainer Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
3. Remove the window garnish moldings.
4. Remove the upper trim pad.
5. Remove the instrument cluster bezel.
6. Remove the center trim bezel.
7. Remove the radio.
8. Remove the BCM module from the I/P.
9. Remove the I/P outer trim covers.
10. Remove the I/P compartment.
11. Remove the steering column filler.
12. Remove the right side I/P trim panel.
13. Remove the panel which contains the power mirror switch and the dimmer switch.
14. Remove the inflatable restraint I/P module.
15. Remove the left and the right carpet retainers.
16. Remove the screws and the bolts which hold the I/P retainer to the cross beam.
17. Remove the I/P retainer from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Align the I/P retainer to the cross beam.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.
2. Install the screws and the bolts which hold the I/P retainer to the cross beam. Begin at the center and work toward each side.
Tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
3. Install the left and the right carpet retainers.
4. Install the inflatable restraint I/P module.
5. Install the panel which contains the power mirror switch and the dimmer switch.
6. Install the right side I/P trim panel.
7. Install the steering column filler.
8. Install the I/P compartment.
9. Install the I/P outer trim covers.
10. Install the BCM module from the I/P.
11. Install the radio.
12. Install the center trim bezel.
13. Install the instrument cluster bezel.
14. Install the upper trim pad.
15. Install the window garnish moldings.
16. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution.
17. Connect the negative battery cable.
