TECHNICAL

Bulletin No.: 09-06-02-008

Date: June 08, 2009

Subject: Coolant Leak from Lower (Outlet) Radiator Hose (Replace Lower Radiator Hose and Reposition Brake Line)

Models:
2007-2009 Chevrolet Express
2007-2009 GMC Savana
Equipped with 6.6L Diesel Engine (RPO LMM)

Condition

Some customers may comment on a coolant leak or low coolant. During diagnosis, it may be found that the leak is from the lower radiator hose.

Cause

This condition may be caused by hard contact between the lower radiator hose and right front brake pipe. Over time, this contact may result in a rub through of the radiator hose.

Correction

Inspect the lower (outlet) radiator hose and right front brake pipe for contact at the location indicated in the picture. If there is contact, and rub through of the hose has occurred, replace the lower radiator hose and reposition the brake pipe so there is 10 mm (0.394 in) of clearance between the hose and pipe. To reposition the brake pipe away from the hose, carefully bend the pipe mounting bracket downward until proper clearance has been achieved.
