DTC Descriptor

DTC B0005 00
- In Park Signal Circuit

Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The park enable relay control circuit is a voltage output from the body control module (BCM) energizing the PARK ENABLE PCB relay in the left instrument panel junction block. Voltage is applied to the park enable relay control circuit under different circumstances for different subsystems depending on vehicle content. Refer to the applicable Description and Operation for a more detailed explanation of the control of the park enable relay control circuit.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* The system voltage is between 9-16 volts.
* The DTC can only set when the output is actively being requested by the module.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

There is a short to ground on the park enable relay control circuit.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The module output driver will be shut down and not supply voltage to the circuit.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The current DTC will clear when the module request for the output is removed or the malfunction is no longer present.
* A history DTC clears when the module ignition cycle counter reaches the reset threshold of 50, without a repeat of the malfunction.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Disconnect the harness connector X5 at the BCM. Test for greater than 50 ohms of resistance between the park enable relay control circuit terminal 19 and ground.

^ If less than the specified range, test the park enable relay control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the junction block.

2. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure. Verification Tests

* Instrument Panel Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement - Left Side
