Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The Ignition 1 Voltage signal connects the Serial Data Gateway Module (SDGM) along with numerous other modules to the vehicle 12-volt system through a fused relay in the under hood body electrical center (UBEC). This relay is closed by the Body Control Module (BCM) based on the key being in either the Run or Crank position.
Conditions for Running the DTC
Ignition voltage is between 9-16 volts.
DTC B1453 01
Ignition is in ACC position.
DTC B1453 06
Ignition is in RUN position.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
DTC B1453 01
Ignition 1 Voltage Circuit is more than 2.5 volts for more than 0.5 seconds.
DTC B1453 06
Ignition 1 Voltage Circuit is less than 2.5 volts for more than 0.5 seconds.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The SDGM will store the code in memory.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
DTC B1453 01
Ignition 1 Voltage Circuit is less than 2.5 volts for more than 0.5 seconds.
DTC B1453 06
Ignition 1 Voltage Circuit is more than 2.5 volts for more than 0.5 seconds.
Diagnostic Aids
Many controllers such as the PIM, TCM, and SDM will set a DTC for a problem with the Ignition 1 Voltage circuit. Confirm that they do not have DTCs before only investigating the SDGM.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the SDGM harness connector X2 at the SDGM, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the ignition circuit terminal 20 and ground.
^ If the test lamp illuminates, test the signal circuit terminal 20 for a short to voltage.
2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 20 and ground.
^ If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
3. If all circuits test normal, replace the SDGM.
Repair Instructions
