DTC Descriptor

DTC P06AF
- Torque Management System - Forced Engine Shutdown

Circuit/System Description

This diagnostic applies to communication integrity conditions between the engine control module (ECM) and the hybrid powertrain control module (HPCM). The HPCM monitors a state of health message that the ECM transmits to verify the ECM is functioning properly.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition voltage is 8-18 volts

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The HPCM does not detect a state of health message from the ECM.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* DTC P06AF is a Type A DTC.
* The HPCM commands the battery energy control module (BECM) to open the high voltage contactor relays.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTC P06AF is a Type A DTC.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Clear the DTC information.
2. Turn the ignition OFF for 1 minute.
3. Turn the ignition ON.
4. Retest for DTC P06AF or any communication (Uxxx) DTCs.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition ON, observe scan tool data from the ECM.

^ If the scan tool indicates no communication with the vehicle, refer to DTC U0100-U0299 (HP2) DTC U0100-U0299 (Except HP2). U0100

2. Program the PIM with the latest software version and recheck for DTCs.

^ If the DTC resets, replace the Drive Motor Generator Power Inverter Module Assembly (PIM).
