DTC Descriptor

DTC P0A80
- Hybrid Battery Resistance High 2

Circuit/System Description

The battery energy control module (BECM) measures the internal battery resistance across the high voltage (HV) battery string. This measurement is then compared to temperature. If the internal resistance is out of range at a given battery temperature, this DTC will set.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* The vehicle power mode is RUN.
* Accessory voltage is 9-18 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

* Hybrid battery current is between -70 amps and +100 amps.
* Hybrid battery temperature is between -10 and +50°C (14 and 122°F).

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* DTC P0A80 - Replace hybrid battery pack.
* The high voltage contactor relays will open.
* DTC P0A80 is a Type B DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTC P0A80 is a Type B DTC.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Ignition ON, observe the DTC information with a scan tool. DTC P0A80 should not set.

^ If DTC P0A80 is set, refer to DTC P0A80.

2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTCs. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

Circuit/System Testing

Verify that DTC P0A81 is set.

If DTC P0A81 is set, replace the drive motor battery assembly.
