P0C2F
DTC P0C2F
Diagnostic Instructions
* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis for an overview of the diagnostic approach.
* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions provides an overview of each diagnostic category.
DTC Descriptor
DTC P0C2F
- Control Module Drive Motor Speed - Motor Speed Correlation
Circuit/System Description
This diagnostic applies to internal microprocessor integrity conditions within the hybrid powertrain control module (HPCM). The HPCM monitors its ability to read and write to the memory. The HPCM processor monitors the data to verify that the indicated engine and motor 1 speed calculation is correct.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* The control module runs the program to detect an internal fault when the key is ON.
* Ignition voltage is 8-18 volts.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The HPCM has detected that either engine speed or drive motor 1 speed, when compared to each other, are not rotating as expected.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* DTC P0C2F is a Type A DTC.
* The HPCM commands the battery energy control module (BECM) to open the high voltage contactor relays.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
DTC P0C2F is a Type A DTC.
Diagnostic Aids
Because the engine and drive motor generator 1 are joined mechanically through a planetary gear set, any condition that allows the engine or drive motor speed sensors to indicate their actual speed incorrectly may cause this DTC to set.
Circuit/System Verification
Important: Diagnose ECM DTCs P0335 and P0336 prior to performing this procedure.
1. Clear the DTC information.
2. Turn the ignition OFF for 1 minute.
3. Attempt to start the engine.
4. Retest for DTC P0C2F.
Circuit/System Testing
Important: Diagnose ECM DTCs P0335 and P0336 prior to performing this procedure.
1. Repair the following conditions if observed:
* ECM CKP sensor DTCs
Important: If mechanical binding of the engine is observed, internal transmission damage may have occurred.
* Mechanical condition which would cause drive motor 1 to rotate without a corresponding rotation of the engine.
2. Ignition ON, retest for DTC P02CF.
^ If the DTC resets, program the PIM with the latest software version and recheck for DTCs. If the DTC resets after programming or if the PIM already contains the latest software version, replace the PIM.
If the DTC resets, replace the Drive Motor Generator Power Inverter Module Assembly (PIM).
