DTC Descriptor

DTC P0A1F
- Battery Energy Control Module Internal Performance

DTC P1A01
- Battery Energy Control Module Long Term Memory Performance

DTC P1A05
- Battery Energy Control Module Random Access memory (RAM)

DTC P1A06
- Battery Energy Control Module Read Only Memory (ROM)

Circuit/System Description

This diagnostic applies to internal microprocessor integrity conditions within the battery energy control module (BECM). This is a internal electronic fault detection diagnostic of the battery energy control module (BECM). This fault is internal to the BECM and no external circuits are involved. Can cause erratic hybrid drive motor battery operation including a no start condition.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* The BECM runs internal diagnostic in order to detect an internal fault when the ignition is ON.
* Ignition voltage is between 9-18 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The BECM has detected an internal malfunction.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* The BECM will open the contactors, shut down the hybrid drive motor battery high voltage system, and will not close the contactors.
* DTCs P0A1F, P1A01, P1A05, and P1A06 are Type A DTCs.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTCs P0A1F, P1A01, P1A05, and P1A06 are Type A DTCs.

Diagnostic Aids

Observe the driver information center (DIC) messaging that would indicate the electrical system requires service. Inspect for loose or poor connections at the 18-way hybrid drive motor battery connector.

Special Tools

EL-489000 HEV Safety Kit

Circuit/System Verification

1. Ignition ON, observe the DTC information with a scan tool. DTCs P0A1F, P1A01, P1A05, and P1A06 should not set.
2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC to verify the DTC does not reset. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

Circuit/System Testing

Ignition ON, observe the DTCs with the scan tool.

If DTCs P0A1F, P1A01, P1A05, and P1A06 are set, attempt to program the BECM before replacing the BECM.
IF DTC P0A1F, P1A01, P1A05, or P1A06 resets, replace the BECM.
