Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit Description
The driver side deployment loop consists of the following components:
* An inflatable restraint side impact module RR
* The side impact module RR high circuits
* The side impact module RR low circuits
A shorting bar is used within the side impact module RR connector. The shorting bar will short together the side impact module RR high circuit and the side impact module RR low circuit when the connector is disconnected. This helps prevent unwanted deployment of the inflator module during servicing. During a side or frontal crash of sufficient force, the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) will allow current to flow through the deployment loop. This flow of current will deploy the side impact module RR. The SDM performs continuous diagnostic tests on the deployment loops to check for proper circuit continuity and for shorts to ground or voltage. If a malfunction is detected, a DTC will be stored in memory.
Conditions for Running the DTC
Ignition 1 voltage is within the normal operating voltage range.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
DTC B0112
The SDM detects the RR side impact module deployment loop resistance is less than 1.3 ohms for 500 milliseconds.
DTC B0113
* The SDM detects the RR side impact module deployment loop resistance is greater than 4.8 ohms for 500 milliseconds.
* The SDM detects the voltage at the RR side impact module high control is less than 2.4 volts and RR side impact module deployment loop resistance is 6 ohms or greater for 500 milliseconds.
DTC B0114
* The SDM detects the voltage at the RR side impact module high control is greater than 6 volts for 500 milliseconds.
* The SDM detects the voltage at the RR side impact module high control is less than 2.4 volts and the RR side impact module deployment loop resistance is less than 6 ohms for 500 milliseconds.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The SDM commands AIR BAG indicator ON.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The condition for setting the DTC no longer exists.
* A history DTC will clear once 255 malfunction-free ignition cycles have occurred.
Diagnostic Aids
The following are possible causes of the malfunction:
* A short between the side impact module RR high and low circuits
* An open or a high resistance in the side impact module RR high or low circuits
* A short to ground or a short to voltage in the side impact module RR high or low circuits
* The side impact module RR connector
* The SDM connector
* A malfunctioning side impact module RR
* A malfunctioning SDM
Thoroughly inspect the wiring and the connectors. An incomplete inspection of the wiring and the connectors may result in a misdiagnosis, causing a part replacement with the reappearance of the malfunction. If an intermittent malfunction exists, Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections (Component Tests and General Diagnostics).

Circuit/System Testing
Important: Refer to SIR Service Precautions (Technician Safety Information). When removing connectors inspect for damage or corrosion. Damage or corrosion in the following requires repair or replacement of the affected component/connector.
* The inflatable restraint side impact module
* The SDM module
* The inflatable restraint side impact module wiring harness connector
* The SDM wiring harness connector
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the RR inflatable restraint side impact module.
2. With the appropriate adaptor, connectJ 38715-A in place of the inflatable restraint side impact module.
3. Ignition ON, verify the DTC is set as current.
• If DTC is not set or is set as history, replace the inflatable restraint side impact module.
4. Ignition OFF, disconnectJ 38715-A and the adaptor. Disconnect the harness connector at the SDM.
5. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the high control circuit terminal 26 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the high control circuit for a short to voltage.
6. Test for less than 1 volt between the low control circuit terminal 27 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the low control circuit for a short to voltage.
7. Ignition OFF, test for infinite resistance between the high control circuit terminal 26 and ground.
• If not the specified value, test the control circuit for a short to ground.
8. Test for infinite resistance between the appropriate low control circuit terminal 27 and ground.
• If not the specified value, test the control circuit for a short to ground.
9. Test for less than 1 ohm on the high control circuit between the impact module harness connector terminal A and the SDM harness connector terminal 26.
• If greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for an open/high resistance.
10. Test for less than 1 ohm on the low control circuit between the impact module harness connector terminal B and the SDM harness connector terminal 27.
• If greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for an open/high resistance.
11. If all circuits test normal, replace the SDM.
