Ignition Switch: Service and Repair



Ignition and Start Switch Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement (Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement).
3. Remove the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement (Removal and Replacement).
4. Remove the theft deterrent module from the lock cylinder housing. Refer to Theft Deterrent Module Replacement (Service and Repair).




5. Remove the screws (2) from the ignition switch (1).
6. Remove the ignition switch (1) from the ignition lock cylinder case.
7. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.

Installation Procedure




1. Connect the ignition switch electrical connector.
2. Install the ignition switch (1) to the ignition lock cylinder case.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).

3. Install the screws (2) to the ignition switch (1).

Tighten the screws to 1.25 N.m (11 lb in).

4. Install the theft deterrent module to the lock cylinder housing. Refer to Theft Deterrent Module Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Install the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement (Removal and Replacement).
6. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement (Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement).
7. Enable the SIR System. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).
