DTC P0507 Idle Speed High

Circuit Description

The ECM adjusts the fuel delivery in order to control crankshaft speed at idle. If the ECM detects that the engine idle speed is higher than desired within a calibrated time this DTC will set.

Condition for Running the DTC

^ DTCs P0116 P0117 P0118 P0300 P0335 P0336 P0500 P0506 P0602 P0652 P0653 P1125 and P268A are not set.
AND following conditions are met for 10 seconds:
^ The ignition switch is ON.
^ The desired engine idle speed does not vary more than 10 RPM.
^ The vehicle is stationary.
^ The engine coolant temperature is more than 149°F (65°C).

Condition for Setting the DTC

^ The ECM detects and actual engine idle speed is more than 200 RPM over the desired engine idle speed for 10 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

^ The ECM illuminates the MIL on the second consecutive driving cycle when the diagnostic runs and fails. Refer to DTC Type Definitions for Action Taken When the DTC Sets - Type B.

Condition for Clearing the DTC

^ Refer to DTC Type Definitions for Condition for Clearing the MIL/DTC - Type B.

Test Description

The number below refers to the step number on the Circuit System Testing.
