DTC P16OB Fuel Injector Calibration Checksum Error

Circuit Description

The electrically erasable & programmable read only memory (EEPROM) in the ECM and the glow plug control module (GPCM) memorizes fuel injector flow rate information. Within the ECM the diagnostic compares its internal programmed flow rates to the GPCM internal programmed flow rates to ensure they correctly programmed each other. If the ECM detects that fuel injector flow rates does not agree with the GPCM internal programmed flow rates this DTC will set.

Condition for Running the DTC

^ The ignition switch is ON for 30 seconds.

Condition for Setting the DTC

^ The ECM detects that the programmed fuel injector flow rates do not agree with the GPCM internal programmed flow rates.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

^ The ECM illuminates the MIL when the diagnostic runs and fails. Refer to DTC Type Definitions for Action Taken When the DTC Sets - Type A.

Condition for Clearing the DTC

^ Refer to DTC Type Definitions for Condition for Clearing the MIL/DTC - Type A.

Diagnostic Aids

^ Non-programmed GPCM sets this DTC.
^ If the ECM the GPCM or the engine is swapped from another vehicle this DTC will set.
