P2453
DTC P2453 Diesel Particulate Filter Differential Pressure Sensor PerformanceCircuit Description
The exhaust differential pressure sensor is attached to the chassis frame near the diesel particulate filter (DPF) assembly. The exhaust differential pressure sensor is a transducer that varies voltage according to changes of the exhaust gas differential pressure between in front and in rear of filter.
The ECM learns a variance of the exhaust differential pressure sensor signal at every ignition cycle after the ignition switch has been ON with the engine OFF for 30 seconds. If the ECM detects that learned exhaust differentia pressure is not within a predetermined range this DTC will set. (Learned Position Error Diagnosis)
If the ECM detects that the exhaust differential pressure went excessively low or high under normal operating condition this DTC will also set. (Sensor Signal Range Error Diagnosis)
Condition for Running the DTC
Learned Position Error Diagnosis:
^ DTCs P0642 P0643 P2454 and P2455 are not set.
^ The battery voltage is between 10 to 16 volts.
^ The ignition switch is ON.
^ The engine is stopped.
Sensor Signal Range Error Diagnosis:
^ DTCs P0079 P0080 P0102 P0103 P0116 P0117 P0118 P02E8 P02E9 P0652 P0653 P2032 P2033 P2454 and P2455 are not set.
AND the following conditions are met for longer than 5 seconds.
^ The ignition switch is ON.
^ The engine speed is less than 1400 RPM.
^ The fuel injection quantity is less than threshold.
^ The engine coolant temperature is between 149 to 198°F (65 to 92°C).
^ The exhaust gas temperature 2 (in front of filter) is less than 482°F (250°C).
^ The intake airflow valve position is more than 70%.
^ The turbocharger control is under normal condition.
^ The exhaust brake valve is commanded OFF.
Condition for Setting the DTC
Learned Position Error Diagnosis:
^ The ECM detects that the learned exhaust differential pressure is not within -4.5 kPa to 4.5 kPa.
Sensor Signal Range Error Diagnosis:
^ The ECM detects that the exhaust differential pressure is not within a predetermined range of the calculated pressure value for longer than 3 seconds.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
^ The ECM illuminates the MIL when the diagnostic runs and fails. Refer to DTC Type Definitions for Action Taken When the DTC Sets - Type A. (Learned Position Error Diagnosis)
^ The ECM illuminates the MIL on the second consecutive driving cycle when the diagnostic runs and fails. Refer to DTC Type Definitions for Action Taken When the DTC Sets - Type B. (Sensor Range Error Diagnosis)
^ The ECM inhibits EGR control.
^ The ECM inhibits DPF regeneration control.
Condition for Clearing the DTC
^ Refer to DTC Type Definitions for Condition for Clearing the MIL/DTC - Type A. (Learned Position Error Diagnosis)
^ Refer to DTC Type Definitions for Condition for Clearing the MIL/DTC - Type B. (Sensor Range Error Diagnosis)
Diagnostic Aids
^ If an intermittent condition is suspected refer to Intermittent Conditions in this section.
^ Misrouted disconnected or plugged exhaust differential pressure hoses or pipes will set this DTC.
Test Description
The numbers below refers to the step number on the Circuit! System Testing.
3. If this DTC sets at ignition switch ON learning position error diagnosis fails.
