DTC Descriptor
DTC B008A 00
- High Voltage Crash Impact Detection Sensor 2
DTC B008B 00
- High Voltage Crash Impact Detection Sensor 3
Circuit/System Description
The high voltage circuit impact detector (HVCID) sensor utilizes a unidirectional 2-wire circuit. The HVCID sensor modulates current on the circuit interface to send ID, state of health, and deployment commands to the serial data gateway (SDG) module. The SDG module serves as a power source and a ground for the HVCID sensor. When the ignition is turned ON and input power from the SDG module is first detected, the HVCID sensor responds by performing internal diagnostics and sending an ID to the SDG module. The HVCID sensor continually communicates status messages to the SDG module. Some applications use multiple HVCID sensors.
This vehicle does not use crash sensor 2 or 3. These DTCs can only set if the incorrect software is installed in the SDG module.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* The ignition is ON.
* The battery voltage is 7.5-18 V.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
B008A 00 or B008B 00
Sensor 2 or 3 is reporting a state-of-health message, but the SDG module is not calibrated to use sensor 2 or 3.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The driver information center (DIC) displays the SERVICE HYBRID SYSTEM message.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* A current DTC clears when the malfunction is no longer present.
* The DIC message turns OFF when the DTC passes.
* A history DTC clears when the module ignition cycle counter reaches the reset threshold of 50, without a repeat of the malfunction.

Circuit/System Verification
Verify that DTCs B008A and B008B are not set.
If the DTC is set, program the SDG module. If the DTC resets, replace the SDG module.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
