Circuit/System Description

The battery energy control module (BECM) performs tests on its own internal memory to detect failures. No external circuits are involved. Failure of these diagnostics can cause erratic hybrid drive motor battery and HV contactor relay operation.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The ignition is ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The BECM has detected an internal malfunction.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* The contactors will either open or will not change state, depending on conditions.
* The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) turns ON.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* DTCs P0A1F, P1A01, P1A05, and P1A06 are type A DTCs.
* DTC P1A01 will pass if the EEPROM checksum matches when the ignition is turned OFF.
