SERVICE UPDATEBulletin No.: 10239
Date: September 29, 2010
Subject: 10239 - Service Update for Inventory and Customer Vehicles - 75th Anniversary Edition Emblem on C-Pillars Peeling/Corroding - Expires with Base Warranty
Models:
2010 Chevrolet Suburban
This service update includes vehicles in dealer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealership for any reason. It will expire at the end of the involved vehicle's New Vehicle Limited Warranty period.
Purpose
This bulletin provides a service procedure to replace the 75th Anniversary Edition Emblems located on the C-pillar on certain 2010 model year Chevrolet Suburban vehicles. The emblems may not meet the requirements for exterior chrome surfaces, causing the emblems to peel and/or corrode.
This service procedure should be completed as soon as possible on involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealer for any type of service during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage period.
Vehicles Involved
A list of involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory is available on the "Service Update Bulletin Information" link under the "Service" tab in GM GlobalConnect (US), or attached to the GlobalConnect message (Canada), used to release this bulletin. Customer vehicles that return for service, for any reason, and are still covered under the vehicle's base warranty, and are within the VIN breakpoints provided below, should be checked for vehicle eligibility in the appropriate system listed below.
Important
Dealers are to confirm vehicle eligibility prior to beginning repairs by using the Required Field Actions section in the Global Warranty system. Not all vehicles within the above breakpoints may be involved.
Parts Information
Important
An initial supply of emblems required to complete this recall was pre-shipped to involved dealers of record. This pre-shipment began the week of September 20, 2010, and was approximately 100% of each dealer's involved vehicles. Pre-shipped parts will be charged to dealer's open parts account. The CSO order control item will read "Emblem-Recall" for orders that have been issued as part of the pre-ship process.
A small amount of parts will be available beyond the pre-ship to accommodate dealer to dealer transfers. If required, parts are to be obtained from GMCC&A after October 4, 2010. Please refer to your "involved vehicles listing" before ordering parts. Normal orders should be placed on a DRO = Daily Replenishment Order. In an emergency situation, parts should be ordered on a CSO = Customer Special Order. These parts will not be managed by RIM.
